Prior to playing Breath of the Wild, I was not a fan of any of the 3D Zelda games. I grew up on the Zelda titles from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy era. And the idea of Zelda being a 3D adventure didn't really resonate with me. So going into Breath of the Wild, I had my reservations. BotW exceeded everything ten fold. I'd consider BotW an essential game for the Nintendo Switch.

I went in anticipating a tough as nails platformer. And left with a story that hit very close to home. The controls are very responsive and feel natural even though they are very simple (Madeline can jump, climb, and dash). The soundtrack is wonderful and catchy. I found myself humming to some of the songs when I wasn't playing the game. It's a game I wish that I could experience for the first time again and again.
